Featured Recipe
Wed Mar 20 19:00:00 UTC 2002
We are going to start posting featured recipes. These will be recipes that we have tried and found to be excellent, or received a large response from user community. The first recipe chosen is The Best Biscuits Ever posted by Gavin Pearce. Congratulations, Gavin! That really is the best biscuit recipe ever. They turned out buttery, flaky and soft!

So be sure to check back every once in a while to see what is the newest featured recipe! It could be yours!

New Palm Software!
Thu Feb 21 04:00:00 UTC 2002
I have just released a brand new version of the Palm Pilot software for viewing your recipes. I completely redid the user interface to make it easier to use and more like other Palm programs. So check it out!

P.S. This version is 100% compatible with the old version. There is no requirement to upgrade if you are happy with your current software.

Palm problem fixed (hopefully)
Wed Mar 31 04:24:29 UTC 2004
Over the past month or two, several users have reported that they get the "Oops!" page when they try downloading recipes to their Palm Pilot. After quite a bit of hair-pulling, I think I've finally solved the problem. If you still have difficulties, post a reply to this message and I'll see what I can find.

Like the new site?
Thu Jan 08 04:28:14 UTC 2004
Well, after a long, long time, I've finally updated the site. About two years ago, I created this site as a gift to my wife when she asked me for a program to keep track of her recipes. Not to think small, I went ahead and created an entire website with professional quality features. Surfice it to say, my wife was quite happy. :-)

Unfortunately, I didn't count on how popular the site would become. In the time that I've been devoting toward growing a money making business (see: http://www.datadino.com), this site has grown to over 1500 users with ~2800 recipes! As a result, my wife and I have been discussing what to do about it.

Given how constrained my time is, it just wouldn't make sense to make major upgrades to the site. We considered adding advertising, but the only way to make money on that would be to turn the site into a place with lots of banners and popup windows. I'd rather pay for upgrades out of my pocket than do that.

The decision we came to, was to add a tip jar feature. Very simply, if you like the site, consider clicking on the jar to the left. It will take you to PayPal where you can use just about any payment form to send us a buck or two. If there's some feature in specfic you need, attach a note to your donation or use the "Suggestions" feature on the left to tell us what your donation was for.

Allow me to stress that my family and I are not starving. In fact, this site has helped make me a little fat. ;-) But time is money, and I'm running this site on personal hardware. If there's a feature you'd like to see, or a general improvement, throw a couple of bucks our way! Here's a few things I know people want:

- A way to download all your recipes to your computer. I've actually got an idea for a nice recipe "book" for download.

- Allow more than 64K of recipes to be downloaded to a palm pilot.

- A forum for posting tips and tricks on cooking.

- A way for visitors to narrow the list down to recipes submitted by one person. (Quite a few of you have asked to be able to link to your database from your website.)

- A better domain name. :-) ($9.95 per year from GoDaddy, plus a one time $35 setup fee)

I'm sure there are others. Feel free to click on the link below this message to add your own ideas and comments.

One last thing. If I didn't get back to your email, I apologize. I got to as many as I could, but I'm afraid that many of the things that prevented me from maintaining this site, prevented me from responding. My wife and I will start handling the emails together to hopefully improve our response.

Happy Cooking!

Slight Boo Boo
Sun Jul 27 04:00:00 UTC 2003
Some of you may have noticed that the site disappeared for a week. Sorry about that, but it seems that some bad weather we've been having helpfully shut down the server. Since it's at a remote location, it took me awhile to get it back up. I've plugged the server into a UPS now so that this doesn't happen again.

Lemon Butter Chicken
Thu Jul 03 04:00:00 UTC 2003
Our new featured recepie was submitted by Shannon Holden. It it is a very nicely spiced chicken, with an original taste. There are billion and one way to cook chicken, but this is a good one to try if you want something simple and tasty for dinner.

Featured Recipe #2
Thu Jul 04 19:19:00 UTC 2002
Our second featured recipe is the tasty Mom's Apple Cake posted by Diane Hansen. This cake is a nice spin on the old fashioned apple pie. It comes out sweet, but not too sweet, and goes great with tea!

Congratulations Diane!

Cupcakes anyone?
Sun Jun 02 01:39:00 UTC 2002
Recently Ksenia decided to try baking something new and exciting. Cupcakes! Ok, so it's not that new or exciting. However, despite the popularity of cupcakes, she's never made any before. Well, imagine her surprise when she checked the Desserts area and found no cupcake recipes! This has to change! So I'm calling on you, our community. If you have a good cupcake recipe, please share it with us. If it's good enough, we might even make it a featured recipe!

Which reminds me, if you haven't tried Gavin's Best Buscuits Ever recipe yet, then I highly recommend that you make the time. Ksenia has been making them quite often, and I have to say that I have not yet tried a better biscuit! If she keeps making them, I might end up loosing my slender figure!
